In springtime, as the weather warms up, I enjoy spending more time outside after being cooped up in the winter...and that's why I love big porches and patios! I don't have a big porch of my own right now, but these are some decorating ideas I'd like to remember for when I do! Photos are from Country Living and Midwest Living.
From Midwest Living...This red, white, and blue decorating theme is perfect for summer! It's such a welcoming front porch, with comfortable wicker furniture and bright, colorful pillows. The rustic wooden birdhouses give this outdoor area a homey feel, too. And those beautiful red potted plants make this porch even more irresistible! Notice the rolled-up shade at the top left...a great way to have privacy or block the sun on a hot day.
Here's a close-up of the little table set up on one side of this porch...perfect for enjoying an outdoor breakfast or an afternoon snack!
From Country Living...You can cover a vintage iron-and-brass daybed with a cozy coverlet and lots of fluffy pillows...it makes a comfy place to relax in an enclosed porch. Use some pretty flowers from your garden to make a big, beautiful bouquet and display it on a side table.
Here's a covered porch with a gorgeous mountain view. The bright, vivid colors of the red vintage glider and yellow planter stand out beautifully against the clean white of the porch. And the red geraniums are another great way to add some eye-catching color.
The patio of this Tudor-style home has a nice "cottage garden" feel to it. Clematis and confederate jasmine climb the brick wall in the background and the stonework on the patio floor ties everything together beautifully.
These colorful Adirondack chairs are perfect for a beach house patio! You could also add some large sea shells and sun-loving plants and flowers if you like.
You don't have to have fancy flooring to have a pretty patio...this relaxing spot is just beautiful with a simple gravel ground covering and lots of lush garden greenery all around.
Of course, it's hard to resist the traditional charm of this relaxing front porch with the very comfy-looking cushioned white wicker chairs. The soft blue wooden plank floor adds to the soothing atmosphere.
Hydrangeas are my favorite flower, so I find this porch, surrounded by those beautiful bushes, totally irresistible!
This screened-in back porch has a dreamy feel to it with all the wonderful natural light streaming through. It's simply decorated with white wicker furniture, from a thrift store, and potted plants...potted flowers would be pretty here, too.
