Beautiful and Budget-Minded Cottage Decor

I love to decorate, but I usually have to work with pretty small budgets. It can be a challenge, but it's also fun to see how creative you can be at saving money while pulling off wonderful new looks for different rooms in your cottage home. I like to collect different ideas and inspiration I see from various places, and when it comes time to redecorate, I have some great thrifty options to choose from! Here are some ideas I found at Better Homes and Gardens and you'll find many more at their site!

Easy-care slipcovers really dress up a sofa, love seat, or chair. And soft, plump, pretty pillows make the decor extra cozy!

Add pretty touches to a room with simple accessories like vintage bottles–display in an interesting grouping and put a few flowers in some of the bottles from your cottage garden!

Simple accents on a mantel, like small potted plants and a beautifully framed vintage mirror, are perfect for the look of this fresh, white-themed living room.

Dress up your walls with the look of lattice–it brings a wonderful garden-like feel to any room! Beaded board is also a nice option.

Chandeliers, vintage or new, are a great way to add charm to a cottage dining area.

Displaying favorite dishes, vases, or pottery you already own in a hutch is another simple way add to the decor–this allows you to admire your treasures even when you're not using them!

Rustic touches like this iron bed and the distressed mirrors in the corner add a vintage feel to this bedroom decor. Shop thrift stores, flea markets, and garage sales for vintage items like these!

Another rustic touch...frame artwork or a poster in a vintage window...a great way to upcycle!

Be crafty as well as thrifty by making your own unique accessories, like this button pillow with touches of ribbon. The simple all-cream color palette of the pillow makes it elegant as well as homey.

Display a collection of architectural elements together for a wonderful vintage look. This  beautiful "headboard" display is created from an old mantel and molding, and adorned with beautiful accents like the round mirror and eye-catching collection of sea shells.

Simple touches...a large pot filled with fresh-picked daises, a bowl of apples or other favorite fruit, and a clean, simple arrangement of white plates on the wall.

On the outside, a porch is made more restful with touches of soft teal blue paint on the door and shutters. The blues of the comfy pillow and beautiful hydrangeas complete the serene look.

What thrifty and simple ways do you add interest to your cottage decor?
